Events
The Bird House Inn at Excelsior Bay has hosted many special events over the years, and we are proud to offer a reasonably priced option in the Lake Minnetonka area. We know that each event is unique, and we are happy to work with you on your own personalized celebration. Summer dates fill quickly. We recommend calling to reserve 9-12 months in advance.
Weddings and Receptions
Whether you want an intimate indoor wedding or a larger outdoor ceremony, we have several different options for weddings, commitment ceremonies or vow renewals. Our indoor space can accommodate up to 36 guests, seated, or 75 milling about on our main floor. Outdoors, on our patio, porch, or lawn area there is room for a gathering of up to 100 of your friends and family.

Afternoon Ceremonies – Indoor $300 + $300 *damage/cleaning deposit.
Use of our main floor between 11am and 4pm for up to 20 guests, then $4 per person for any guests beyond this number, up to 70 people. Includes use of the Garden Suite for dressing, staging, and bathroom access, and lodging for two for the evening.
Afternoon Ceremonies – Outdoor $650 + $300 *damage/cleaning deposit.
Use of both the indoor and outdoor common areas between the hours of 11am and 4pm for up to 20 guests, then $4 per person beyond this number. Includes use of the Garden Suite for dressing, staging and bathroom access, and lodging for two for the evening.
Evening Ceremonies – Two Night Minimum $3500 + $500 *damage/cleaning
deposit. We require whole-house rental for two nights for all evening ceremonies. The house can sleep up to 14 guests (see room descriptions), and breakfast is included. Evening ceremonies can be held between 4pm and 1am, as allowed by city ordinance. Includes use of both the indoor and outdoor common areas.
Our Inn is furnished with traditional living furniture. We are happy to point you in the direction of local rental companies for chairs, tables, linens, etc. We are also happy to recommend local caterers, florists, photographers, and ceremony officiants.
Small Gatherings & Celebrations
The Inn has hosted many special events, including bridal showers, tea parties, anniversary parties, birthday bashes, business breakfasts and more. We can help arrange for catering, or you may prefer to handle the details yourselves.
Base rate starts at $150 for up to 20 people, and catering options range from $15-$40 per person. A self-catered option can also be arranged. Since each event is unique, please contact us to discuss your needs and additional pricing for groups of twenty-one or more.
*Damage Deposit
Damage deposits will be returned at the conclusion of your event should the Inn be left as it was found. To date, we have always been able to return this to our guests.
